There are numerous options for eating & drinking, and all within walking distance of Fryers cottage. There are also plenty of restaurants and pubs slightly further afield in neighbouring Cromford, Matlock, & Matlock Bath which we recommend visiting. Le Mistral
A delightful candle-lit French bistro, a short 2-minute walk from the cottage. Enjoy home-cooked delights from their set menu, a ‘la carte menu, and selection of daily specials. Also open in the mornings for coffee and pastries.

A good pub and pub garden offering hearty British pub grub from locally sourced suppliers, with a large range of ale, lager, wine, spirits and soft drinks and a short 3-minute walk from the cottage.

Quirky welcoming pub showcasing some of the Haarlem art space works, and located within the red lion hotel. Excellent choice of craft beers.

The Royal Oak

Situated at 14 North End, a narrow street in central Wirksworth, this is a stone built local pub with plenty of atmosphere, open fire and up to five real ales.

The Quarryman (Blacks Head)

A cosy pub with log burners, up to 6 cask ales and great wines, situated in the Market Place, and often with live music from local musicians.

The Dining Room Community Restaurant

A great choice for a full English, lunches and afternoon teas and located in Waltham House opposite the Wirksworth Memorial Hall & Farmers Market.

Located on the Market place a short 3-minute walk from the cottage. This is a great choice for traditional takeaway fish and chips.

A cosy independent coffee shop serving a selection teas, coffees, pastries, and cakes, and located at the bottom of Greenhill, and a short 1-minute walk from the cottage. Also provides take away service.

A delightful coffee shop, run by Antonio & Sarah who serve fresh Italian coffee and a selection of sweet and savoury bites as well as vegan and dairy/ gluten free options. A small amount of seating is available indoors and outside on the historic cobblestones.

Located within the Wirksworth Heritage centre, and open every day except Monday and Wednesday, and offering a great choice for a tea, coffee, cakes or nice lunch.
